Its Happening Here

Yep..... last night one of my old employees who was my second in command in Corrections, went  on the Vent here at a local hospital.. he has Covid 19.  He stayed in the department after I retired, went on to run a prison himself, to be a Warden,  I have to say I believe I taught him well.........

I was talking to him a few months ago about retirement, there comes a point in your Corrections Career, that its better to retire, than face the deluge of crap....  but hindsight is 20/20....


He signed his retirement papers before going on the Vent..... just in case... scary thought... scary thought.......

Its starting to happening... creeping up around us.... Covid 19..... it's not pleasant its fuckin frightening.....

I am still self isolating, the Governor has said stay home till April 30, but the end of this week it will have been 21 days almost..... I've never stayed in this house in the last 23 years that long... Gee ....
Its a new adventure for sure.... at lest I am saving money and cooking at home... which I better be eating more veggies for sure....


On another note, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that today 19 years ago, My Momma passed from this Earth, to her reward. She was born on December 25, 1920.  I've written about it many times, but I always like to mention it, to keep her memory alive,  She was a Buck Sargent in WW II, serving in the US Army Women's Air Corp, she was stationed at Sheridan WY....... She was a photographer and very proud of her service.... Self Directed, Self Assured, all the way to the End.

Sunday... Yep... Quiet Day for the Most Part.. But (and there is always a But) so many Thoughts

Today.... was very solemn ... very quiet and no cars on the street.. no kids racing up and down the sidewalks.. no strollers watching their iPhones as they walk the sidewalks.....


I did ride with Catherine, one of the Guardian Lesbians we did a short 6 miler in 40 minutes.. not bad time not slow time.. but it was off about a minute a mile.....I can feel my legs getting back into the cycling mode.... I can feel the confidence of my self as I ride..

Today, thoughts of retiring fully have crossed my mind... I have about 3 years to go for this second retirement to be vested .. ... its a 7 year process for vestment.. I am not sure if I want that... considering what could be on the horizon in the near future with pandemics and such... given my status and age.. is it worth it... I can pay off my house anytime I want to... the truck is paid for. the car . is almost....

Certainly I will need something to do... to make me get up in the mornings, but as reality sets in .. I have now friends fighting for their lives in the hospitals. it seems if I am going to smell any roses.. I better make some decisions... within the next year or so.... ...

Its just a scary time for all of us.... for the entire Nation.... and now I can see the political blame game about to start.. for the sake of Living we don't need that at this time....

Make a vaccine please.. step up the clinical trials... hurry up .... please......

Got Out of the House

Today, CD and SH called me, they wanted to get out of their home, so they called and asked if I would call Mike at the Bike Shop to see what deals... he had..

I/ve brought to Mike many customers... He always comes thru....

So, CD and SH, They are my guardian Lesbians, got themselves two nice Specialized Bikes.....

And We all got Out of the House and Rode .. it was a lil slow, but they will build up to the 10 miler in an hour soon..... Well.. Lets give them time.....cause they are into photo taking ...

Other than that, one of my former employees, has the Covid 19, he is home, he says its rough rough rough....

I am fearful ..... for everyone..

The Day is Friday and Time is dragging on......  I've about covered all my work for the office that I had left... not much more.....to do.....

Long Haul

Yep...... The Long Haul..... Its seems Louisiana folks won't stay home, some how the Governor needs to clamp down, have the balls to Stay Home, to order us, he asked us... now order us.. period!

I am staying home, working from home, not sure how long this will last, April 13th is a long time to come... and I am not too sure if that will be the date to start back... I have my doubts.

I am using instacart of grocery ordering and delivering.  I am still not sure how safe that is.  I wiped down all the packages when I get them in the house. We are having porch time with social distancing the appropriate 6 feet...... even then to gain access to the porch you can't be sneezing or coughing..

New Orleans is blowing up with cases... I have several friends down there.. they are about like me and are staying in.... Billy, Steve's mate had a doctor appt tomorrow and they will do it Tele Med on a conference call.. Stay Home is the Word.... I am doing it... along with my friends....

Its just a Long Haul.. that I am concerned about...

The Lil City by the Red is gripped in the throws of Covid 19. This past weekend, after one week of sheltering in place brought out some crazy fuckers..........three showed up at my house.. please don't temp me... I was tempted...   but and there is always a But....social responsibility over came the natural urge.... they left after I told them I would require Social Distancing


I am not too sure how folks are going to handle a second week or longer of this, no cafes (take out only), no bars, no nothing and the shelves at the grocery store is not looking promising. Even the local hardware store is call order we hand it to you our the back door

While I have crawfish tails, 12 pounds of 9/12 shrimp, whole prime beef tenderloin... all in the freezer .. there's no entertaining tho.... the porch can safely have 5 social distancing occupants at one time.

We are working from home,  brought additional 14 laptops and gave them out, created a daily activity log to be turned in each day, its going to be a long week.......

Stupid Me

Today... for some reason, I went into the Courthouse through the back door, up the stairs, with Lysol Wipes on door handles, etc.... to see and work just a bit.......

Wrong Decision.... Wrath of my Friends descended on me.....

But, I turned my self around shortly and came home after I took care of a few matters that landed on my desk....

Now I am firmly here at the house... for no more going out... no more Courthouse... Home....

Duly admonished ... shamed beyond my own imagination ....


Stupid ME...... that's all I can say.....


An Afternoon UpDate...............


I tried to understand about my decision to go to the Courthouse today for that brief visit...

Again stupid me, on the precautionary status I did Not touch any door handles without Lysol Wipes and I washed my hands when I got home, then sprayed the bottom of my shoes.....

It's raining in the Lil City by the Red today.. washing all the Pollen down the drain... Thank Goodness...

Now, as I was thinking through what made me go to the Courthouse.... The isolation got to me, the political paranoia in the political world always says.. you need to be seen... so to speak.. tongue in cheek...

Now that I have had time to do the mental health notes on it.. I won't be doing that again....

I will simply turn on the Sonos..... and rock away with Maria Ferrante's Ava Maria, or Tracy Chapman, or Sheryl Crow... or go deep, deep,  way back to CCR... Bad Moon Rising ...... or maybe Billie Eillish.... bad guy!!!

Its a long long way to Tipperary .....So says the Song

So, Here we are.... in Central Louisiana... we got a long long way before we see the Light of Day, The Finish Line......

I am so disgusted with the attitudes of the elected officials here.... Heads in the Sand.....

The parishes south of here are shutting down, we here in Central La want to give our citizens their money's worth... show that local government can STAY OPEN.... come in have a cup of coffee... sit a spell.... BullShit... Shut the Offices down.


The cost of emergency time, per declaration, until April 13 is the employment cost of approx 3 funerals here in Central La.... that is all it will cost in payroll to send these public servants home until April 13th per agency... we all have about the same pay scale and staff numbers.. Give the folks paid leave time in this Emergency... as they did in Katrina....

But No.... these folks want to prove a point... Govt Runs.... its goin to run folks right to the morgue .

On a much lighter note.... I am glad to see all my blogger buddies sheltering in place for the most part.. writing about their experiences... and maintaining Humor at All Cost.... Which is what is needed... at this point especially in the OutBack of Louisiana...in the Lil City by the Red...

Day Three

The Day thing might not be a good idea.....So no more comments titled Day #

My routine is to get up take my meds as usual, make breakfast, which I haven't done except on weekends..... now it's everyday..

I use to have  breakfast at the coffee shop across the street from the office... hopefully it will return, I hope the coffee shop can survive...

My local eateries are trying to cope with the no dining in customers.... I never really went on a regular basis to a favorite bar....

It is suppose to rain here either today or tomorrow, which will help with the pollen, after the rain, I will was down the porch.... get it ready for social distancing visitors on one porch swing, me on the other, it helps to have one of the only homes in the Garden District with two porch swings..

I called the office this morning to say hi, check on some files...etc.. try to keep a lil office routine going here.

It seems that the World is changing before everyones' eyes... which it is... I wonder if we will really return to normal... as we knew it...

Day Two

This is Day Two.... of how many I don't know... when you think that, I wonder who else is "sheltering in place".

I have wiped down all my light switches, door knobs, I am going to try to busy myself with small jobs around the house and do communication with the office.. I would like more office people to FaceTime, but that is not going to be the case....

I did order my groceries on Instacart today... its better than going to the grocery store and running into someone hacking and coughing.. you know these country folks believe this is a hoax, far overblown ... Dumb Ass Folks....  I hope we don't become the Northern Italy of American..

I made 2.1 miles steps on my Apple Watch yesterday... that is around and around the house and a lil bit of the office before I was told to Shelter in Place.

I am watching CNN and reading the papers online..

Cooking Jambalaya

I decide if I am going to stay home and try to work.. why not cook also.. for the long haul

So, I figured I would cook some Jambalaya.. since I had some good sausage from Randy's down the road....

I went to work this morning.... got there, opened the office up, turned on the computer, next person walks in, we discuss our age, aliments, etc... third person walks in same discussion......

Then the Man we all work for gets there, everyone over 60 and/or with health issues, Go Home Now.

He's a good boss....

From all the news coming in, the responsible measure is to stay home, go no where, avoid people to the maximum ability, and hunker down....

I rode the bike yesterday, as I was pedaling a burst of Pollen, Greenish Yellow dusted me from some oak trees on Polk Street...  I wasn't needing that but at lest I did get out and sweat a lil bit...

So, I am working from home, as much as I can do

Batten down the hatches.... Lock the from door...

Listen to the Medical Professionals

I am privileged to have good sound and good sense medical professionals that I know as friends, one is like me and has hiv.


I am told by all of them the below:


The key to all of this is stay away from crowds, wash your hands, and don't put them in your mouth, nose, or eyes.... They all tell me to wash my hands when I get up, wash my hands before I make anything in the kitchen, wipe down car keys, wipe down door knobs, don't shake hands, stand a comfortable three feet apart or more during a conversation.... Wash Your Hands !!!

My Doctor friend says that since I am undetectable, having taken the pneumonia shots, the mega flu shots, and other preventive shots, I am a lil not much but a lil better off than the average 66 year old..

Since I do work for a public agency, I need to limit my exposure so I will spray before some one comes into my office, make them sit at lest four feet away, spray when they leave, wipe down the chair they sit in and have the next person in for an interview and repeat the process.

The other medical professionals say that we all will have a probability to catch the Covid 19, it depends on how big of a dose you get to how much harm it will cause your lungs.

Its just a worrisome time for all.... and then there are these selfish people in my neighborhood that are throwing care to the wind, having their parties and traveling on planes this weekend.. Gee...I never would have thought that these intelligent people would be so selfish... I hope that don't walk up on my porch, they just might be told to stay in the front yard.

Fish today from the Cathedral.... a few blocks from here......

I think the weather is getting right for a bike ride this weekend and a lil work in the yard.. front yard that is...

I believe that I feel up to cooking a shrimp or crawfish etouffee'  also. I got a nice Rhone from France in for the wine cellar this week.... Last Bottle is a good place to get some Rhones.... haven't sipped it yet..... it would go nicely with a spicy etouffee' .

Life is simple and I am beginning to feel the rhythm of Spring........... 

New MacBook Pro....

Well I broke down two days ago and purchased me another MacBook Pro.... the other one was 8 years old... this one should take me to almost the end.. or near it.... I hope its longer than shorter..

But any who... I was at my wits end with the old one.. I purchased it in 2012.... its been a great machine... I hope this one does the same... it was a hard decision... actually.. an Investment.. in the LLC...

Hopefully I will sale a few photos this year... to help defer the cost ...

I'm happy to have made the decision... the Lesbian and I talked about it on the way back to the Lil City by the Red on our fishing trip.. I broke down two days ago and it was delivered today.. nothing special .. standard machine... but it is nice to have... and its weighs less...

Above is some recent photos from the Lesbian and mine fishing trip to Heber Springs Arkansas.  Spent four days at a vrbo home on the river.  Contemplated Life and just enjoyed the peacefulness of the Lil Red River........ wasn't a lot of folks out, only saw two other people on the river all the time we were there.  Friday till Monday.  The Lesbian caught most of the fish.
