To try to be correct in using only known materials (got approval of the historical com.) here in the GD, I used copper screen on the back porch.
Keith and I measured it up, I went to the local hardware store, struck a deal with the owner.
Then we ran out. 25 feet short. Hmmm... back to the local hardware store where I do business all the time. No Go...out of stock ... and then the local owner said this..... T, I gave you a real good deal on this....at my cost plus 5%; I can't get this no more....it would cost you a fortune.
So, what do I do. Well...you trot down to the other hardware store in town, where you never done business and pay the price.
Boy, did hardware store owner #1 give me a whopping great deal...cause at hardware store #2...I paid in gold, ...maybe platinum....at a PRICE of $7.00 a running foot.
So the moral of the story is...when you got a good deal...order more than you think your going to need...cause you may run out..!!!!

Today, around noon time, we started putting the screen up on the back porch.
I am surely going to have to do some serious landscaping at the base of the porch.
But the copper screen is looking good. Gives the porch a great look...sort of country in the city type.
Should be really nice not to get bite by the mosquitoes. Not more flies ...horse or deer flies to contend with.
Not too much going on.
I can tell that the leaves on the Crepe Myrtle are being to turn red. Could be an early fall.
We are only a week away from the start of the Labor Day weekend.
I am sure all those lil twinkettes are getting ready to head for Decadence. Those biker men, shining up those steel cock rings.....driving those trucks down to the Big Easy.
Oh well, this guy is not heading down there. Too damn hot, too much drama, too much everything.
I will be here sitting on the porch. Enjoying the peace and quiet, biking in the woods.
Might even paddle next weekend.

The neighborhood that I live in is comprised of some elderly folks (not ancient, but older), some would be yuppies, some good hearted folks, few gaily gentlemen, handful of lesbians, and other assorted characters.
There is one older couple (straight) that took me in so to speak in my early years of residing here. Became my surrogate parents in sort of a way.
Both are strong willed and independent thinking.
I had my first blow up today with them. Cause I offended the husband, in making an offer on a piece of real estate of one of his old close friends. Actually his widow. She had a piece of property that she wanted to sale and I made an offer on it. Low offer.
So, here is the another rule, as long as ma and pa are living, I won't make any real estate offers with their long time friends, folks they grew up with, and have buried either the wife or husband.
Just best to keep quasi family matters separate from quasi business matters.

Roy and I were on the porch around noon today. The JW Ladies were out in force, walking the street and delivering their information booklets, and as they say "sharing the Word".
This event happens always during the spring of the year and about when Fall starts to arrive.
Temps had dropped over the past few days, you only had four sweat drops instead of a gusting from under your cap to contend with. So, I am sure the JW Ladies said they would pick up their Scripture and hike down to the Red Bricks.
Roy commented that they should be and we should be grateful that we are a country that allows such, one to walk the streets, deliver her or his opinions and be welcomed up on some one's porch to participate in free speech and your opinion.
I told Roy he had a point there. Seems that we are continuing to be a country divided, no one welcomes another person's opinion or sits there and listens, then bids them a good day and a happy one.
Roy and I did just that, listened to what the JW Ladies had to say, took their booklet politely, and bid them a good, happy day.
All is well on the Red Brick Streets of this small southern town located in the Heart of La.

Got a few calls from folks down in New Orl.
They are all tuned into the weather channel, listenin' to the radios, wondering if Ms Deannie is going to skirt the Yucatan and head this way.
Chances are he/she will not.
Looks like Dean might just ravage the Yucatan Pn.....dump some moisture on Mexico.
Folks over in TX are doing the same thing....keepin' a watchful on the Weather Channel...as with the folks in New Orleans....folks are making plans way beyond what they use to do.
Its nice to be out of the path of one of these big winds, but close enough to get a lil rain and tail of wind....just to make the evening pass onto the night.

Well its 100 degrees, with 55 % humidity. You walk out into the steam room.
Nothing like a good olde hot La August day.
Pears are starting to fall to the ground.
Time to make Pear preserves.
Biked yesterday by myself. No one wanted to venture out.
Ms. Tina has reared her ugly head once again here in town. She is disappeared after some major drug bust, but the boys are courting her again.
Its a sad shame that gay life has to be about sex sex and drugs out the whazoo. Its such a false way to live. But the boys down on the other corner are hot at it.
No good can come to them for sure.
Not much else, going to bike later after the sun goes down....it should be at least in the mid 90's by then.

Lizzie and I hit the gym this morning.
It is always good to go workout....make that physical effort.
Actually in my case its more mental..the part of getting up and going.
Its hell to get there....get your self up and get going, but once you pull on that door handle at the gym......walk in.....you know you have made the right choice for the morning.
All in all........its good.....
I have come to a date for the conclusion of my tenure with the Great State that I work for.
After 32 years of service to the people of La......I am hanging it up to move on to a less hectic pace.
At the end of the year I will perform my swan song.....let the fat lady sing.....and ride into the sunset.

Its Sunday.
I missed early Church this morning and I don't go to High Mass.
So for another Sunday, I am communing with the Good Lord on my front porch.
I guess its off to bike today with Chip and Natatlie.
When out to a track of woods yesterday, swatted horse flies, walked the creeks, missed a couple of snakes.....(thank goodness). The muscadines are not ripe yet. Soon tho.
That is it.....hopefully it will be a slow Sunday here on the red bricks.
