Ah.......the Car

I am thinking bout letting it go. Haven't made up my mind.

I realized that I can't think of being on the Autobahn, this past Sunday.

Its amazing ......this Car......all the performance it has, the handling.....and .........THE SPEED.

I scared myself, came to the realization that I needed to slow down.....I am not a race car driver......and if I continue my chase for the acceleration......I will end up wrapped around some Loblolly Pine tree (Pinus taeda) in downtown Otis La.

My dilemma is what to do....cause the temptation is hard to bear when it comes putting the pedal to the metal.

Here is a pic of the house, with the crepe mrytles in bloom. After the fall comes, I can better show the paint job. ..
Also, for those who have asked, those are the red bricks on the street.

Tis a usual Friday in the Governmental Services of the Great State of La.

I left the office at 10 am, but the phone ring until 347 pm.

Oh well.....another day on the gravy train, as one of my dear family use to say.

It ain't no gravy train if you leave the office at 10 in the morning and you can't get off the phone until the stroke of four.

Tomorrow its the ride around the levee with Chip. We are doing a 15 mile medium ride.....with a few adventures, down the levee, up the levee....couple of bumps on the gravel road......and then thru the city.

If I do get brave I will try to post some pics.

Oh btw.....the painter is gone......after 14 weeks of restoration work on the outside of the house, he is finally gone.

Brought the 1925 heart cypress siding down to the orginal surface, then brought the paint job back up, the process was like this:

sand all wood, take all lead base paint off, down to the base wood.

counter sink all 1925 nails driven into the heart cypress, fill the holes with something akin to gooy goop.

putty the holes after the gooy goop.

sand all nail holes

first coat of primer

sand first coat

second coat of primer

sand second coat

the spackle any rough surfaces

sand spackling

then first coat of final paint

then second coat of final paint

touch up anything left to the naked eye

Say Job well done....fucking right its well done.....and done by one man too.

Best Historical Paint Job in the Garden District.

Approved by the Garden District Committee on Historical Restoration

Open a nice bottle of Red.......and Chill !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh pockets are empty for some time to come.

Headed to the gym in the morning with Lizzie.

The painter here is back at the house. I hope it is his last week.

My pocket book can't take much more.

I am ready to get out of dodge here soon. Too many politics in the air. Its heating up down here and it aint good in the middle of summer to have so many folks blowing hot air.

Other than that......all is ok......I guess.

I am heading to Santa Fe again at the end of September. Be out there for about a week and a half or as long as I don't have the pulls from La.

Yep, Saturday afternoon in the Garden District.

Partly Cloudy.

This morning Chip and I performed the needed cleaning of the front beds. Moved on to the back yard.

Chip has moved back from Chicago and needed a lil extra change in his wallet, so he has been helping me in the yard.

He is a good worker. The $15 an hour is a good price also, considering that is mowing the yard, cleaning the flower beds, planting plants...etc. Usually we work for about four to five hours on Saturday.

I am cooking supper tonight for some folks, boneless stuffed chicken...stuffed with crawfish and shrimp....smoked on The Egg.

Should be some good eatin'.

I did make it to the gym yesterday. I am proud of myself.

Tis raining here n the am.

Were going to work on putting the tin ceciling on the back porch.

Still might, just got to watch the skies.

I am about over the crudd.

Gym on Monday for sure.

Other than that.....all is ok here in the heart of La.

I found this entry in BRETTCAJUN, I heard about it when it happened, but you never truly put the story and impact on the matter until you have seen the FACE.

Its about a very young Jefferson Parish Police Officer.

Right before his death, a video was made.

It tells of how much he enjoyed being part of the "blue family".

He was so young.... .......so young.....

It reminded me of those years ago, when I had some close calls.

A tribute by some one to him

Thanks H

I am better. Went to work today, slight fever, but did good.

The Dr says that it is all the paint fumes, flecks, lead paint base fumes (removal) that is, spackling dust etc that has cause my bronch. tubes to flare up. All from living in it for the last four months while the painter has made the house look top notch.

Its the cost of having a pretty house on a beautiful brick street.

I am well over the hump......I hope so.

Well I have been a lil under the weather for the last couple days.

Running fever of about a 100

On antibotics, nasal stuff etc.

Have whizzing in my chest.

If I dont run any fever tomorrow, I am back at the office.

Must have been that workout putting in that back screened porch with all the sun.........I knew I was getting something Saturday night....

Lets just hope its a quiet season.

Well the house got cleaned.

The guy did good. Better than expected.

It was the first time too. So, I am sure he did his best.

I left him a key, told him what I wanted, he complied.

Got back the house smellin' clean. The bed was made up tight. He must have been trained somewhere in the military.

So, have to see .....what the next time brings.

Today I am having a guy come over and begin cleaning my house.

My sister told me I should take this option.

He is going to dust, clean, change the bed sheets, mop the floors etc.

Clean windows

etc.

I told him I would give him a month of work to see how this is going to work out.

oh btw Happy 4th !!!!!

One of the last magnolia blooms of the season.
The tree did wonderful this year.
Leaves were a great deep green, flowers were white velevet.
The fragance drifted thru the district each evening at dusk.
And so goes living in the deep deep South on a Sunday afternoon.
